UNCLE WALLY 'S FUN TIME SING-A-LONG ;-) ;-) ;-) |
All U Party Peeplez in da Haus, sing along wid yer Uncle Wally !! ;-)
When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again, Hooroo, Hooroo ;-)
=========================================================
I'm goin' to the road to see Athy,
Hoo-roo, hoo-roo.
<repeat 1X (the above part)>
I'm goin to the road to see Athy,
A stick in me hand and a drop in me eye,
A doleful damsel I heard cry,
"Johnny I hardly knew ye."
CHORUS
With your guns and drums, drums and guns,
Hoo-roo, hoo-roo
With your guns and drums, drums and guns,
Hoo-roo, hoo-roo
With your guns and drums, drums and guns,
The enemy nearly slew ye,
And darlin' dear, you looked so queer,
"Johnny I hardly knew ye."
Where are the eyes that looked so mild,
Hoo-roo, hoo-roo.
<repeat>
Where are the eyes...
When my poor heart you first beguiled?
Why did ye skidaddle from me like a child?
"Johnny I hardly knew ye."
CHORUS
Where are the legs with which ye run?
Hoo-roo, hoo-roo.
<repeat>
Where are the legs...
When you first went to carry a gun?
Indeed, your dancin' days are done.
"Johnny I hardly knew ye."
CHORUS
Ye haven't an arm, ye haven't a leg,
Hoo-roo, hoo-roo.
<repeat>
Ye haven't...
you're an eyeless, boneless, chickenless egg,
You'll have to be put in a bowl to beg,
"Johnny I hardly knew ye."
CHORUS
I'm happy for to see ye home,
Hoo-roo, hoo-roo
<rrepeat>
I'm happy for to see ye home,
All from the islands of Ceylon,
Slow in flesh, so high in the bone,
"Johnny I hardly knew ye."
CHORUS
.

I'll sing along with you, Uncle Wally, and Sue, or anyone else here. I'm
afraid to venture into the bloody snake pit of Jolli's madness, mutilation
and murder thread above.
Sheeesh...psychos are burning themselves out in this NG faster than they
can discharge 'em from the state mental hospitals!
heeheehee...it must be the end of the world.
Doc ;))

Doc wanted to sing but;-
"Sheeesh...psychos are burning themselves out in this NG faster than
they
can discharge 'em from the state mental hospitals!"
Hey...You noticed Doc...;)
You have to admit that it's not every day we are 'priviliged' to meet a
God who can run faster than light, become invisible and know all
thoughts.
But you are right...singing a nice song is preferable.
Do you remember that one from the Uk in the 70's...it was called 'They
are coming to take me away, Ha Ha.'
I must try to find the lyrics...;)

Ricky
They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-haaa!
Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
Because I'd go berserk?
Well. . .
You left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I've gone
Completely out of my mind
And. . .
They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!
You thought it was a joke
And so you laughed
You laughed when I had said
That losing you would make me flip my lid
Right. . .
You know you laughed, I heard you laugh
You laughed, you laughed and laughed
And then you left
But now you know I'm utterly mad!
And. . .
They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!
I cooked your food
I cleaned your house
And this is how you pay me back
For all my kind, unselfish loving deeds?!!
Hah. . .
Well you just wait
They'll find you yet
And when they do they'll
Put you in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!
And. . .
They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!
To the funny farm

The weird thing about this ol' tune which Dr. Demento used to play as a
standard on his radio program is that I had a bipolar girlfriend who loved
the song, and we sang it together, but unfortunately she totally flipped
out when we broke up!!! LOL...I kinda' went nutz myself...of course, I'm
all normal now...hehehhee. I don't know what happened to her. Lost contact
and tried to search for her. Hope she is still around...maybe weaving
baskets somewhere.

Doc found it and quoted all of;-
"They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-haaa! ....."
Wonderful! Thanks Doc. I've been chanting along to the melody as I read
Mr Asterisk's latest dictator impression...;)
So, I propose this is the perfect National Anthem for this ng....;) A
sort of group therapy song.
Ah yes...Dr Demento. What an interesting collection of songs. I
especially liked, 'Dead skunk in the middle of the road'. I have a
feeling Loudon Wainwright sang that one.
Can't have been a nice time..the break-up though. Sorry about that.
Again...thanks for the song..;)

Found it.
Now here is a song to cheer everyone up ;)
Dead Skunk
Loudon Wainwright III
words and music by Loudon Wainwright III
Crossin' the highway late last night,
He shoulda looked left and he shoulda looked right,
He didn't see the station wagon, car,
The skunk got squashed and there you are!
You got yer
Dead skunk in the middle of the road,
Dead skunk in the middle of the road,
Dead skunk in the middle of the road,
Stinkin' to high heaven!
Take a whiff on me that ain't no rose!
Roll up yer window and hold yer nose,
You don't have to look and you don't have to see,
'Cause you can feel it in your olfactory,
Yeah you got yer dead cat and you got yer dead dog,
On a moonlight night you got yer dead toad frog
Got yer dead rabbit and yer dead raccoon,
The blood and the guts they're gonna make you swoon!
You got yer dead skunk, in the middle,
Dead skunk in the middle of the road.
Dead skunk in the middle of the road,
Stinkin' to high heaven.
C'mon stink!
You got it,
It's dead, it's in the middle,
Dead skunk in the middle!
Dead skunk in the middle of the road,
Stinkin' to high heaven!
All over the road, technicolor man!
Oh, you got pollution.
It's dead, it's in the middle,
And it's stinkin' to high, high heaven!
Werewolfy.

There are a lot of dead skunks here in Mindocino
county, California every day and every where NOW
- which is the heart of skunkland. :)
They only kept me in the mental hospital for 2 weeks
before letting me go -- back in 1963. I promissed them
I'd go in for shock therapy every week. They never
saw me again!
I've been getting all the shock therapy I need here. :)
So, I'm offering the online APN - National Anthem
theme song for all that find
a need to listen to it.
http://www.apple2.org.za/gswv/me/APN_THEMESONG.mp3
Cheers HOOROO & Enjoy!

If I Had a Hammer (the old Peter, Paul, and Mary song).
Unless it's the Pope's song, which was "They're Coming to Take Me Away,
Ha ha!"

Ah...It's your media player at fault then Suz. I fancy the one you use
doesn't have the full range of codecs.
Try winamp...it's free and download from http://www.download.com/
You'll need something like that for all sorts of songs as your player
seems, well, limited.

I'm gonna get a Rasta friend of mine to put
that into a reggae song and send it to you
Uncle Wally - it's sweet. Or should I just
make it public domain and put it online
for everybody to enjoy?
I wonder if you drank liquid smoke if it would kill you?

Only if one was to blow it out one's a$$ !!!
BTW, Little Buddy (& all of my other fave peepz) here is a
most excellent definition for HOOROO by none other than
the ABC newsradio wordmeister, Kel Richards ;
http://www.abc.net.au/newsradio/txt/s1380439.htm
Hooroo
Presented by Kel Richards
Hooroo is a distinctively Australian way of saying "goodbye".
Only in Australia did "hooray" come to mean "goodbye"
It's so distinctive to us that you'll find it in the Macquarie, The
Australian National Dictionary and the Australian Oxford but it's
missing from the full Oxford English Dictionary and from Webster's.
Hooroo is first recorded in The Bulletin in 1906 in the expression
"Hooroo. See yer termorrer." It's based on the earlier expression
"hooray" - also used in Australia (but only here) to mean
"goodbye". This is first recoded in The Bulletin in 1898 with the
following explanation: "In many places the salutation 'good-day'
or 'good-night' is simply 'Hooray!'" "Hurrah" or
"Hurray" is, of course, a general shout or cheer and goes back to
at least to the 17th century. Only in Australia did "hooray" come
to mean "goodbye" - and only here was "hooray" changed to
become hooroo. And according the ABC's Word Map the "H" is often
dropped and it becomes simply 'ooroo!
