TEHRAN (Reuters) - Washington is "hallucinating" if it thinks Iran will
scrap its nuclear fuel production plans in return for economic
incentives, a senior Iranian official was quoted as saying Sunday.
The United States offered the encouragements in support of the European
Union which is negotiating with Tehran to try to persuade it to give up
sensitive nuclear activities.
"U.S. officials are either unaware of the substance of the talks or
(they are) hallucinating," Sirus Naseri, a senior member of Iran's
nuclear negotiating team, told the official IRNA news agency.
Iran says it needs atomic technology to generate electricity and will
never use it to make bombs, as the United States fears.
London's Sunday Times said Israel had drawn up plans for a combined air
and ground attack on Iranian nuclear installations if diplomacy fails to
halt Tehran's atomic program.
The newspaper said Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his inner
cabinet had given "initial authorization" for a unilateral attack at a
private meeting last month.
Israel, which bombed Iraq's Osirak nuclear reactor in 1981, played down
the report. Iran has said it will respond vigorously to any attack on
its nuclear plants.
Washington gave practical backing for the EU's diplomatic approach
Friday, offering to allow Iran to begin talks on joining the World Trade
Organization (WTO) and consider letting it buy civilian airline parts if
it ceased all activities that could produce fuel for nuclear power
plants or atomic weapons.
Washington and the EU have warned Iran it faces referral to the U.N.
Security Council, which could impose economic sanctions, if it fails to
allay fears it wants the bomb.
INCENTIVES DISMISSED
Iran dismissed the U.S. offer as insignificant. But Naseri said it was
not clear whether the more active U.S. involvement in the negotiations
was "helpful or an obstacle to progress."

You don't get it do you? For a country like Iran, giving up its independence
to appease the loonies in Washington is nothing short of a slow death. So it
will not happen. There is only two ways of dealing with Iran today. Either
the US will respect Iran's independence and its right to develop
technologies that it needs to survive, or it has to nuke it. If Iran gets
partially attacked, then there is a very high risk of retaliation which will
basically mean the end of the world as we know it today. So if the
chickenhawks in Washington have enough balls to attack Iran, they better
make it good: i.e. a dozen or so nuclear bombs. That will of course create
other complications, but Iran will be out of the picture. Otherwise, it's
the diplomatic route, which means use of logic, which means Iran gets to
keeps its nuclear program.

You're of course wrong as usual.
Iran has improved in almost every front since 1979: Economy, education,
culture, health, urban and rural development, etc. Theoretically, it could
have done much better if it had a truly democratic government, but theories
are best for the books. In practice, this is probably the only form of
government that could keep Iran intact. At the very least, Iran is today an
independent nation that doesn't take orders from Washington. That in itself
is more important to Iranians than anything else.

The United States offered the encouragements in support of the

sensitive nuclear activities.
"U.S. officials are either unaware of the substance of the talks

nuclear negotiating team, told the official IRNA news agency.
Iran says it needs atomic technology to generate electricity and

London's Sunday Times said Israel had drawn up plans for a

to
halt Tehran's atomic program.
The newspaper said Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his
inner
cabinet had given "initial authorization" for a unilateral attack

Israel, which bombed Iraq's Osirak nuclear reactor in 1981, played

Are you saying there is reason to bomb Iranian sites?
No he's saying that there is reason for Iran to give up its right to

I may be many things, but I am not a Mullah. The people of Iran won't rise
against the Mullahs or any other government, as long as there is a threat of
foreign aggression. In fact, many people in Iran think that the Mullahs and
the American government are allies under the cover, because every time there
is a potential for popular uprising against the Mullahs, the US reappears
with a new set of threats against Iran. This always translates into people
rallying around the government, and putting on hold the dealing with the
Mullahs.
