US mall shooting creates panic after uni massacre
A shopping mall shooting has created panic in the United States two
weeks after the Virginia Tech massacre.
The Kansas City shopping centre was packed with people when a man
started firing a gun, killing at least two shoppers.
Several other people were wounded, including a policeman. The gunman
was also killed.
Kansas City police say the man, whom they did not immediately
identify, pulled into a car park outside the shopping centre that was
filled with "hundreds and hundreds" of shoppers and immediately
fatally shot two people who were parked on each side of him.
The gunman then went into the mall and wounded at least two other
people.
Police spokesman Tony Sanders says he does not know what prompted the
shooting.
"It appears that he came to the mall to shoot people, whether it was
random or not we do not know," he said.
"It was just mass chaos, as you can imagine, on a Sunday in a crowded
mall."
Another person was found dead in a house several kilometres away but
investigators are not sure if the incidents are related.
The shooting occurred just two weeks after more than 30 people died in
the Virginia Tech massacre.
