US ; Washington volcano may go 'big bang'

US News, VANCOUVER, Washington: Geologists warned late Monday that two
small eruptions of steam and ash from Mount St. Helens earlier in the
day were likely precursors of a much larger explosion that could soon
occur.
An eight-mile radius around the volcano has been cleared and a Level 3
alert is in effect, the highest issued by the U.S. Geological Survey.
Tourists are being kept away from Mount St. Helens National Volcanic
Monument, a large park surrounding the peak.
"What we are expecting is a blast of ash that will rise quickly up in
the air tens of thousands of feet, form an ash column and then a big
expanding ash cloud that will drift with the wind," said Tom Pierson,
a USGS scientist.
The volcano gave off a burst of steam and ash for about 40 minutes
Monday morning and was followed in the afternoon by another small
eruption.

Cool Lucid Dream last night!
I had some sensory stimulated SPECIAL EFFECTS during a dream I had about
Mt. St. Helens last night.
I was dreaming that I was near by when it erupted and it was burning my
chest and my throat to breath the air. I put my shirt over my mouth and
my nose and I remember being awake enough to actually feel the pain and
discomfort in my lungs and throat.
When I woke up this morning, my chest and throat felt like they were on
fire and I have a crackly sounding cough along with the harsh taste of
sulphur. It seems I have contracted the virus that my daughter had 10
days ago.
Nothing at all to do with the volcano but it sure made the dream seem
more real!

at least you could wake up.
Talking to some Balinese about living through volcanic eruption, they
told of not being able to see the sun for three months, never mind the
breathing difficulties.
Oxygen & filters yes that is the go!

Sounds not nice, hate congestation, and the gluggy headedness that
seems to come with it, but could be that bird flu they are watching in
Asia, but apparently it is a one way illness.

Mine didn't end up getting all that bad.
No fever. <knock on wood>
Sure glad I quit smoking a few years back!
but could be that bird flu they are
watching in Asia, but apparently it is a
one way illness.
They didn't do any type of culture on him, just a chest x-ray and said
he had bronchitis. Sent him home with only Zithromax.
I don't understand how they keep up with the number of flu cases here if
they don't do any type of test to see if you have it.
What we had was obviously contagious since 3 of us came down with it.
What do you mean by a one way illness?

But in close proximity you would have to come, (or a number of) down
with it unless your immune system is low at the time, after having
Dengue fever every time I get Flu now I get the Dengue symptoms too,
pointing to a low immune system.
One way, you do not come back.

We don't get the Dengue Fever here....yet. Sounds awful! I feel for you.
It won't be long before we do see an epidemic here, I'll bet.
We have the mosquitoes here that carry Dengue and at this moment after
all the wet weather we have had I don't think I have ever seen so many.
I have to soak myself in insect repellant each time I go outside and
they still bite me.
Everything seems to be out of sync.
One way, you do not come back.

It's those little ones, with white flecks on them, aedies aegyptae,
they are, when I go down (which is not frequent) I study delirium
because I am stuck with it, the only prescribed medication is aspirin,
and sometimes an antibiotic, but time is the healer, and a good watch
on immune system.
