Pope is now in VERY Serious condition.
Considering the Vatican normally is very secretive about these matters, or
says things like Pope has a slight cold, and is dead in the morning, this
is very disquieting. Even so, I have a strong feeling this Pope will still
be with us for quite some time. Knowing him, his past, and papacy I
wouldn't be surprised if he remained in a state of invalidness, while world
events spiral out of control in an Apocalyptic mess - a mess largely made
by Bush, and made worse by this idiot on a daily basis.
But before he dies, I think the last and greatest chapter of JPII's papacy
is yet to be written. It will Astound the World.
John Paul II to be known Historically no doubt at all as John Paul the
Great.

Not really.

Not really. I remember the last few Popes and it wasn't like that at all.
this is very disquieting.
He's very old and frial, if you get a serious illness, or even a
relatively minor one, you can get complications that become fatal
at that age. It's not disquieting, it's pretty much nature taking its
course.
Even so, I have a strong feeling this Pope will still
be with us for quite some time.
Oh? I'd say he will not last the weekend.
Knowing him, his past, and papacy I
wouldn't be surprised if he remained in a state of invalidness,
Well, he's there now. But it won't last very long I suspect. Last
report I saw was that his breathing was now very shallow, this often
leads to a hypoxic condition and brain damage, followed by death.
while world events spiral out of control in an Apocalyptic mess
Eh? You're making way too much stew outta one rabbit.
- a mess largely made by Bush, and made worse by this idiot on a

Yeah right. Whatever. If you think the world is a mess now, wait til
oil gets too expensive to burn as fuel.
But before he dies, I think the last and greatest chapter of JPII's papacy
is yet to be written. It will Astound the World.
LIke what? He's bedridden and dying. The next significant event will
be the announcement of his death and the next one will be the conclave
to elect a new Pope. Significant to the religious but not astounding by
any stretch of the imagination. Get a grip.
John Paul II to be known Historically no doubt at all as John Paul the
Great.
I see no reason why that should be so, as Popes go he was better than
some, but Great? Depends how you define it, but no, I don't see that
coming.

Well, for instance, people (strangely, imo) credit him with being a
factor in the collapse of the Soviet Bloc.
Credit:
He didn't just park himself in the Vatican like most.
Not Italian, for a change.
By force of character he's dominated/held-together a church that beneath
the surface is deeply split. Which leads to...
Debit:
Idiotic stance on contraception, especially in an age of AIDS.
Head in the sand over paedophile priests.
Promotions have been in his own conservative image... ultimately this
will just widen the internal differences and lose attendance in
Northern\Western countries.
IMO:
Not great but will be widely regarded as such.

Proof that you are ignorant on the subect.

So if he had been Italian it would be a minus? Now why would that be?

So he's supposed to promte people that go against him?
LOL!!! As if a Liberal would do so.

So, are you saying that the pope was in favor of supporting
child-molesting priests and giving them more opportunities to molest
children by reassigning them? He promoted a US bishop who did exactly that.

I guess it's possible some could see it that way. I don't agree, the
collapse was due to several factors, but mostly due to internal failures
of the collective communist system, plus an increasing awareness that
they could not compete with western technology and economics.

He didn't just park himself in the Vatican like most.
Agreed, he speng a lot of time travelling around spreading the word, so
from the view of the faithful masses, that makes him a good Pope.
Not Italian, for a change.
Hmmm, yes, but probably not that relevant to his 'greatness' he didn't
elect himself.
By force of character he's dominated/held-together a church that beneath
the surface is deeply split. Which leads to...
He stomped on a few things he didn't like, but then most Popes do.
Debit:
Idiotic stance on contraception, especially in an age of AIDS.
That being one of the things he didn't like. They need to get over this.
Head in the sand over paedophile priests.
The whole issue of enforced celibacy is the engine that produces this
effect and it's way past time it got the flick.
Promotions have been in his own conservative image... ultimately this
will just widen the internal differences and lose attendance in
Northern\Western countries.
if the dissatisfaction is as great as it appears, it suggests a less
conservative cardinal might be a good bet for the next Pope.
IMO:
Not great but will be widely regarded as such.
Ok, I could agree with that.
