VIII.76
Plus Macelin que roy en Angleterre,
Lieu obscur nay force aura l'empire :
Lasche sans foy, sans loy saignera terre,
Son temps s'approche si pres que je souspire.
Line 1 - "M=E2cheli=E9re"
Verse translation
More a tooth grinder than a king of England,
Birth obscure, the empire by force he'll vie.
A cur lacking faith and law, he'll bleed the land
His time approaches so near that I sigh.
Concerning the cowardly and treacherous reign of King John I of
England, (c. 1167 - 1216), who acquired the nickname of "Lackland"
("Sans Terre" in French), as he could expect no inheritance, being the
youngest son. He was considered by many chroniclers as one of the worst
of all English Kings, not only because of the heavy taxes he imposed on
the country, (to fund his territorial wars in France), but also because
of his lack of faith (he was excommunicated in 1209) and his total
disregard for feudal law. Some chroniclers even claim that he was born
on December 24, 1167 at Beaumont Palace, Oxford, but this is probably
unlikely, as King Henry and Queen Eleanor were not together nine months
prior to December 1167. Also, Eleanor and Henry spent Christmas 1167 in
Normandy and not in Oxford. It is said that when King John granted the
Magna Charta, he smiled and spoke pleasantly to the lords about him,
but when he reached his own chamber he threw himself on the floor in a
mad rage, gnashing his teeth and biting the rushes with which the floor
was strewn. Evidently, Nostradamus expected another John "Lackland"
type character to become King of England rather imminently.

Well here we have old king Johnnie who by contrast to his brother the
good by default.
But the rhyme also fits Cromwell who was rather cruel and did much
damage to the land of the Pom, not to mention Ireland.
But then again as Nostradamus viewed him his faith was more of a
"splitters" than as a holy or devout.
Making Nostradamus a seer as opposed to a cyclical projectionist.
But it really comes down to an opinion, as opposed to conclusive proof.

OK let's see the opinion given by the historical evidence!
*Line 1 - More a tooth grinder than a king of England
Does that fit Oliver Cromwell? - No - He was never a King of England
nor was he ever known as a "Gnasher of teeth"!
*Line 2 - Birth obscure, the empire by force he'll vie.
Does that fit Oliver Cromwell? - No - He was born on April 25, 1599, in
Huntingdon, near Cambridge (nothing obscure about that!). Also, there
is no empire associated with his reign.
*Line 3 - A cur lacking faith and law, he'll bleed the land
Does that fit Oliver Cromwell? - No - He was hardly considered a coward
without faith, although the remaining part of the line could fit.
*Line 4 - His time approaches so near that I sigh.
Does that fit Oliver Cromwell? - Irrelevant - It fits only so far as
his time was approaching, but to use this statement as a foundation
upon which to construct an interpretation, is like the foolish man who
builds his house upon the sand.
Conclusion: If this verse can be about Oliver Cromwell, then it can
also be about Santa Claus!

Title: Re: VIII.76 - The down to earth... disinformation 22 Apr 2006 11:11:08 AM
On 22 Apr 2006 01:31:08 -0700, Gary Somai, also known as The
Master, also known as The Lord Protector of Peter Lemesurier's
literary *****, also known as "Merlin" <merlin2rhyme@yahoo.co.uk>
finished giving his appreciation for quatrain VIII-76:
*

Conclusion: If this verse can be about Oliver Cromwell, then it can
also be about Santa Claus!

*
Actually, it stands more chance -- given Gary Somai's track
record -- of referring to Santa Claus than to Oliver Cromwell, as
St. Nicholas lived *before* Nostradamus, whereas Cromwell lived
*after*, only shortly thereafter.
*
As Nostradamus is not supposed (according to this Lemesurier-
inspired Brittish *****) to have predicted anything or anyone
having lived *after* him, it better be... Santa!
*
Now for the serious stuff:
*
--------------- C E N T V R I E__H V I T I E M E. ------------
------------------ (édition prétendue de 1568) ---------------
*
-------------------------- L X X V I. ------------------------
--------- Plus Macelin que roy en Angleterre -----------------
--------- Lieu obscur nay par force aura l'empire: -----------
--------- Lasche sans foy, sans loy saignera terre, -----------
--------- Son temps s'approche si pres que ie souspire. ------
*
Our disinformation student managed to distort line 1 to make it
fit the Lemesurier *****. He did not tell us that "Macelin" is not
a French word. It is a word invented by Nostradamus. Why does
Nostradamus invent words? Because his texts are encyphered,
that's why. And sometimes, an existing word does not fit, so he
makes one up. In this case, from the Italian for 'butcher'
(macellaio).
*
Another thing Gary Somai messed up in line 1: he did not notice
that it was not speaking of an English King, but of a butcher, in
England, more butcher than King.
*
Line 2 confirms that the person referred to therein is not a
king. Gary Somai also managed to distort line 2 to make it fit
his *****. Not knowing French, he thinks that the word "empire" in
line 2 only refers to... an Empire, with an Emperor, etc. No,
Gary, it also means... power! (Maybe your Latin is better than
your French, so... imperium it is!)
*
Had you not destroyed line 2, to make it fit your *****, you would
have readily seen that it refers to someone born in an obscure
place (not a royal palace, as future kings do) who would seize
power by force, not by birth. Kings gain power by birth. Not
Cromwell.
*
And by decapitating his King, Cromwell did indeed soil the land
of blood. (That's line 3, just in case you missed it, Gary.)
*
In French (which you can't read), we have an expression "sans foi
ni loi", which refers to someone who obeys neither God nor King.
In Cromwell's case, I don't think he obeyed the Roman Catholic
Church, nor did he obey King Charles I. That's your line 3.
*
You don't like line 4, Gary, because it shows you for what you
are, a clueless twit. Nostradamus plays with the likes of you
like a cat with a mouse. He even hints that Cromwell shall be
born quite soon after his death, in the same century, so soon
that the prospect of his coming to power makes him sigh.
*
All of which you forgot to tell us, Gary, the only redeeming
feature of your disinformation being that... it is on topic. On
topic *****, but ***** nevertheless.
*
Have a nice day, folks!

You still have to factor in it is Nostradamus' POV not some glorifying
Poms anyone who slaughters folk who have surrendered is a coward, and
consider tha damage Cromwell did to the monasteries etc basically
education and health centres in those days.
Also note Cromwell was Protector not royal, and a fundie (bare bones
parliament!)
St Nick? hardly maybe just because it does not fit your agenda it is
rejected.
Nice to see Claudie following the script for a change.
