Object: Was Jesus A Terrorist?
Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a
tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall
smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." (Matthew
5:38-39)...Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies,
bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them
which despitefully use you, and persecute you. (Matthew 5:38-44)

they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

Hi mongrel. You've been sitting there all weekend waiting for me to
respond so you could "slap" me with this passage?
I've addressed that passage in the past, right here on this newsgroup.
Jesus told his disciples to buy swords when it became clear he was
about to be arrested. He told them to buy swords so they would be able
to defend themselves after he was gone. But he definitely didn't want
them using their swords to protect HIM, as that passage demonstrates.

It's this damn place... I myself can't figure out why I keep returning... I
have this weird feeling that eveyone here is here for a reason, whether they
know it or not. People come and go all the time, but there are a select few
who once they enter the fray, can't separate themselves from the place.
It's like the Burmuda Triangle of the Internet.

I first came here in 2000. Even back then, people were 'killing' each
other. That's how I became a 'troll'. That's what this place is for!! It was
impossible to say anything without getting a slew of personal attacks. I
just gave up!!! I figured "if you can't beat them, join them", I tried my
best to 'fit in'.
Anyhow, that's why I like this place, it's ok to act 'inappropriate'
sometimes. After awhile, nothing really bothers you anymore. It's all
good.....

Ah ... point taken. Yes, you are correct that one cannot create peace
by fostering anger.

In the case of Nazi Germany, or Imperial Japan, the collective anger of
the allies eventually did bring about peace. What should we have done
in that case, turned the other cheek and allowed the Axis powers to
dominate the world? When Jesus told us to turn the other cheek, he was
talking about a one on one situation -- where a guy can just walk away
from a slap in the face without starting a fist fight. But when it
comes to evil on a large scale, that threatens the existence of a
society, appeasing that evil only encourages more evil.

To you think there are 'intellighnt' people that act this way? I'm just
amazed how people can be blind to what's obvious.
I would not want to have this problem myself. That would be a major handicap
in trying to understand people. That's what bothers me about him....

Oh. As for the Rove thing, I believe in "innocent until proven guilty."
Obviously, you have thrown that concept out the window, which is why I
wondered if this whole Rove thing has overtaken your sense of reason.
As for this thread, I made a point wondering where was anger from the
left toward the terrorists who are purposely targeting civilians, and
you twisted it into something else.

I'm in perfect health, Thank God. But thanks for your concern anyway.

Personally, I think it's a scream. I just read 'All The Presidents Men'
for the first time a couple of weeks ago while camping. Rove's apparent
indiscretion is pure gold. I have no idea what you think of Rove or his
tactics, but unfortunately for him, his reputation has preceded him.

Let's see, I've been trying to discover why there is so little anger
expressed from the left with the terrorists in Iraq. So I'm not sure
what your question has to do with that.
