Sadly, it would seem that most christians these days have forgotten or

Most? How do you know that? Sure, many fall short of living up to the
high standard Jesus set for us, but at least we have a standard to
strive for nonetheless. Meanwhile, those of you who have no such
standard to live up to can sit back and mock Christians who fall short

First hand experience. Observation of current world events.

I wouldn't call myself a traditional christian... I was bought up going to
church and all, but I've come to my own conclusions about the 'church'.
Jesus certainly had alot of good advice to give, and I try to follow it.
That said, my experience of the people who made up the church's I attended
as a child didn't leave me with much trust in, or respect for them. If you
really want my personal reasons for this, just ask... I won't go into them
right now though. No, I was not molested or anything like that. My
experiences of many different churches, in many different towns were all
very similar, with respect to the people there who called themselves
christians.
Thus, I do believe in the teachings of Jesus, and apply them to my life
whenever I can... but I don't identify myself as a christian when asked if I
have any religious alignment. Frankly, I don't think god (in what ever form
you believe) is so petty that
Congratulations Aidan, that was

Never put your trust in man. We are all sinners (regardless of what some
people say) and we all fall short of being what we, as Christians, are
supposed to strive for... to be like Jesus. I truly am sorry for
whatever bad experiences you might have had but like the pastor at our

My 2 cents.

Who knows? It postulates that Jesus was not crucified and travelled to
France with his wife, Mary Magdelen. Their descendents formed a royal
house, the Merovingians (sp?) Supposedly thre is a secret society in the

That's all I can remember, as I read it back in the eighties. I think a lot

It's supposedly something that's true but never made it into the Bible.
The book was too long and complicated to keep my attention. I didn't read
much.
Not sure how credible the information is.
Next time, why not find out what you're talking about before starting
stupid threads like this one.

I didn't care. It wasn't important. I'm sure you misunderstood my intention
anyhow. I don't consider you to be any my "Spiritual Leader"

In todays world any dissent is regarded as the demonising term called
"Terrorism" or now the Disgruntled.
But we would need many Messiahs today to get out of the Log Jam, we are
sailing so confidently into.
Reading said Gospels though, on the Messiah, well, you would say he was
a man of Social Justice, who regarded all life as sacred.
Not like a lot of "adherents" who claim to TRY and follow the
Teachings is not the path narrow?

How is that anything remotely like a terrorist?

Stehpen Douglass accused me of being a terrorist supporter because I
suggested that it is futile to try to create peace by fostering anger in
others. That's why I posted this to give him a "slap in the face".

Ah ... point taken. Yes, you are correct that one cannot create peace
by fostering anger.

Ah ... point taken. Yes, you are correct that one cannot create peace
by fostering anger.
In the case of Nazi Germany, or Imperial Japan, the collective anger of
the allies eventually did bring about peace. What should we have done
in that case, turned the other cheek and allowed the Axis powers to
dominate the world? When Jesus told us to turn the other cheek, he was
talking about a one on one situation -- where a guy can just walk away
from a slap in the face without starting a fist fight. But when it
comes to evil on a large scale, that threatens the existence of a
society, appeasing that evil only encourages more evil.

Mathew 26:51/52
And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and
drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his
ear.
Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all
they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
