I 'passed' on the boa's this year, John...;)
Thanks, it's always nice to return. I spent some time in Taipei
(Taiwan) and thought the world's tallest building, the '101', was
impressive. The lift to the top was even more impressive...it's the
fastest lift in the world.
I stopped off in Kuwait for a couple of days, on the way out. That was
rather dull. Very flat and sand, sand, more sand!
Thailand was great, as usual. You would never know the place was under
Martial Law following the coup. I arrived earlier than usual, so caught
the end of the monsoon season. The rains were refreshing and incredible
in their power. Bangkok has a new airport...It opened a few days before
I arrived and is quite a remarkable engineering feat.
All-in all, a quiet trip for once. A lot of idling in the sun without a
care in the World. Now I'm back in England for an English winter, (my
first here for 20 years!) and waiting for the five Test match 'Ashes'
cricket series against Australia. That starts on 22 November. I expect
the New Year will find me 'off' somewhere again though..;)
For the moment, it's quite good to be back. That feeling won't last,
the onset of frosty nights will herald a new desire to travel!
Good to see you, John.

All-in all, a quiet trip for once. A lot of idling in the sun without a

I admire people who travel the world. I think that's one of the cultural
differences between Europeans and "Yankies".
I appears as tho traveling brings you a broader exposure and an appreciation
for the diversity of humanity. Pulls you out of a shell of ignorance.
I'm a typical Yank in that regard. Any time off is generally spent on a
long road trip here in America when I should be seeing more of the world.
Destination of choice for me is Colorado. Not a culturally broadening
attitude but at least I have usenet to provide a vicarious thrill or two.
:-)
Now I'm back in England for an English winter, (my
first here for 20 years!)
One of the things I love about where I live is the dramatic changes in
season. We're just now going thru the peak autumn color changes. I've seen
temperatures here ranges from -25 Farenheit with 20' snow drifts in the
winter to temps of 103 and wicked thunderstorms in the summer. Winter can
be a bear of a challenge here but the drama keeps things interesting and
it's on it's way. Some of us are gluttons for punishment.

Cigarettes! Haven't had one in 15 years. They do say that if you quit
after smoking for a number of years that the shock from the absence of
nicotine will kill you. I know people that have smoked into their late
sixties and seventies. Still going very strong. The tough part now is
affording them over here. $5.25 per pack of 20 premium brand cigarettes.
You need a separate mutual fund to support the habit.
Enjoy the time with your daughter, grandpa.

John Lemke wrote:

That strikes a strident note with me, John. That's exactly why I
travel. It's so easy to sit back and vegetate here, so easy to grow
old, to let ones mind settle into the comfort of acceptance. Motivation
isn't always easy...in fact, it's damned difficult these days. Lose
that, and lose everything I believe. So, I make myself do
something..unusual, go somewhere unknown, in order to retain any sort
of interest in existance.
"The tough part now is affording them over here. $5.25 per pack of 20

Hell yes. It's worse in England. I'll do a 'rough' conversion for
convenience and say that standard cigarettes are $9.00 a pack in the UK
but only $4.00 a pack in France. In Spain, they are $2.00 a pack.
Portugal is =A31.70 and Andorra (sadly, not an EC Country) only $1.00 a
pack!
That's why a trip is saving money rather than spending it. I can buy as
many as I like within the EC without problems of import control or
duty.
RyanAir is a low cost airline that goes just about everywhere in
Europe. A seat will cost about $1.00 each way, if you look around. Just
the taxes of $30 for the return flight to pay.
It's a bit silly to buy cigarettes daily in the UK, when a trip to
mainland Europe every 6 months yields a profit...I save an awful lot
each trip.
I know I should join all the'good people', and give the habit up.
That's pretty hard for me...I've tried, but I always come back to
smoking as being my only remaining vice in life...and we all need some
vice or other to make life interesting!
"Enjoy the time with your daughter, grandpa."
Shrieeeeek! That, 'Grandpa' bit....;) Actually John, she is almost
ready for her second child..it's due in December.
My leaving her there to 'get on with things', seems to have worked. She
has improved a lot, is now at University studying law and is actually
thinking for herself, instead of relying on us for just about
everything!
I'm still thinking about your, "The real hopelessnes, Ricky, is when
you're no longer looking."
You have grasped everything there John. It's exactly as I think too.
Frighteningly accurate...is my 'soul' showing?...;)

There's one HUGE difference. I've never in my life even
tried to forge a header. You can go back years, and the
instances where I changed the name I was posting
under were all in fun, all spoofing some posting bot or
satyrizing a right-wing message. And, even then I didn't
bothered to change my e-mail address.
(And it's amazing, too, because you find out how many
morons out their killfile on username only)
But that was always rather obvious.

Psychologically it's got to be something pretty dark.
Like, he's attributing his sins to me because he's
begining to despise me as much as himself.

To the good real people: Hello krib. Hello eric. Hello Zak. Hello
sollog. (mondo?) Hello Jean. Hello (maybe) Marvin. Hello Razzii!
Hello amigo.
To the mentally ill: MJMc, Alef, Dee, I'm going to come for you guys
too, fret not.
Careful, he may run over you with his wheelchair.
Gratuitous, Lemke. Gratuitous and ungentlemanly. Non sequitur aussi.

Grantland
Come and get me, Grantland. You know what happened when Tony tried that?
You're a bore, Lemke. You're aren't worth my attention.

Grantland's wit was razor sharp and he was searingly passionate, Doc. One
of the things I admired about him. Keep trying.

Hey, Grantland, is that really you? If so, welcome back. Some you
have mentioned, have not been here for quite a while, such as Susan.
Dani doesn't post much either. I don't think she's here anymore.
Jane, and Werewolfy also jumped on the bandwagon, like dramaqueens,
saying they were leaving for good. Of course they never left.
Anyway, welcome back!

Hello sUSAn. Hello Dani. Hello AZ. Hello WH. Hello Bud. Hello
Peter. You guys I'm not allowed to take. Love me, love my dog.
Dweemie, Nonny, etc sorry guys, you're outta luck.
Maybe I left a few out. Lotsa lemmings of all stripes to be sure.
Min. Why do you make like evil?
The pedofile psychpaths and their hags will burn.
That's all now y'hear?
Keep it up.

You really are a naive fool, are you not.
Ivideo-Dan..whatever.. is JTEM, or Doc if you prefer.
Grantland is JTEM, or Doc if you prefer.
Forget headings. Look where 'Ivideo' spends his time if you want to
know how he changes identitites in this way.
Is it just you Eric? Mondo is bright, and Canadian. Did you miss out
when intelligence was being issued?
