History is a word from Greek that means enquiring (specifically to the human part).
From Merriam-Wester on-line dictionary...
from histOr, istOr knowing, learned;
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
While ONE definition is 'inquiry',
that's NOT the accepted definition of history.
The pronunciation in “istory” as the ‘h’ is silent.
There's no 'h' in the original Greek.
