So many ridiculous comments have been made here about quatrain
VIII-66, that it warrants a closer look. The quatrain is found in
the so-called 1568 Benoist Rigaud edition:
*
-------------- C E N T V R I E___H V I T I E M E. ------------
------------------ (édition prétendue de 1568) ---------------
*
--------------------------- L X V I. -------------------------
--------- Quand l'escriture D.M.trouuee, ---------------------
--------- Et caue antique à lampe descouuerte, ---------------
--------- Loy,Roy,& Prince Vlpian esprouuee, -----------------
--------- Pauillon Royne & Duc sous la couuerte. -------------
*
Reading it cursively, one can gather that -- when event #1
happens, event #2 is not far off. In this case, event #1 is the
discovery of the writing "D.M." in an old cave.
*
What can this "D.M." mean? In Latin, and for the Romans, it was
short for DIIS MANIBUS, i.e., to the mane gods. What are those?
They preside over the soul of the dead. So, we get to find this
writing when an ancient tomb is desecrated, its epitaph
destroyed, its coffin pillaged.
*
Whose tomb? Nostradamus' tomb, of course. What happens not long
after Nostradamus' tomb is desecrated and pillaged? The King and
the Queen of France are put to death.
*
How do we know that Nostradamus' epitaph had the inscription
"D.M." on it? It was transcribed by his son César and published
in his own book in the 17th century. When was Nostradamus' tomb
pillaged by the French Revolutionaries? On or about 1791 (I do
not remember having seen a precise date). When were Louis XVI and
Marie-Antoinette guillotined? In 1793. January for the King,
October for the Queen.
*
Bearing in mind that the meaningful gobbledygook of that poetry
above hides a number of perfect sentences in French prose, it is
remarkable that it can be seen as a prophecy of the fate of the
French monarchy... only after 1793, of course.
*
Happy 500th, Nosty!

What is this? has he run out of anagrams? a normal quatrain about
Italy being about the end of the Bourbon dynasty, how can this be, but
I suppose in a non comprenez world, that is de rigeur, but we should
ask our erstwhile hero whether he has nominated at:
http://www.improb.com/ig/ig-top.html
After all it is independant non biased has professional folk from all
over looking at it, he must have a good reason not to nominate,
Perhaps Peter could help, or how about a straw poll, all those in
favour of Claude submitting his theory for scrutiny, add Yea or Nay

Oh a Leoni it is what you expected from 1961
CVIIIQ 66. D.M. is probably just the ancient Diis Manibus, with which
most inscriptions on Roman tombs began. Jaubert has a very
unconvincing interpretation for 1555, involving the capture of
Vulpiano in northern Italy by the Duke of Aumale. It is a rather vague
verse, though with the adultery in line -1, presumably royal, quite
unambiguous.

Oh, forgive me, O great one, I had forgotten that most precious
of ingredients in the alphabet soup, the decyphered text from the
meaningful gobbledygook above. Please allow me to repair my
unforgiveable omission by offering in sacrifice to this group the
decyphered text talking about... the decyphered text being read
both in Quebec and in France and apparently referring to a future
event, that of a sovereign land, formerly called New France, and
called... Québec.

When would this occur? Other decyphered quatrains had indicated
the day and the month of June 24, i.e., St. John the Baptist Day,
Québec's holy patron, but the year still leaves much to be
desired. Originally, 2005 was a candidate, but -- given current
political events in Québec -- it would now seem more reasonable
to assign that event to a small variation of the above, i.e., to
the year 2015.
*
This would follow the same pattern followed by the Aegean Sea
event, originally 'found' to happen on March 11, 2002, and
subsequently assigned to the very same day and month, but on a
future year featuring a small variation of the above, i.e., year
2012.
