What is a quagmire ?

A quagmire is a soft wet area of land which you sink into if you try to walk on it.
A quagmire is a complicated situation which it is difficult to get out of.

How long did the U.S. stay in Germany and Japan after WW2?
Is it possible this will be needed in Iraq?
Does this make the idea of a quagmire simply B.S.?

God I hope not, We're still there! A Vietnam analogy is more like it. We are
invaders and many of the locals don't like it. In the end the Shias will
take over and we will go home much as we did from Vietnam without
accomlishing or original goals except for the removal of Saddam. You can
forget democracy, that's a joke. Civil war is is now beginining.

How long did they fight Germans as they fought an insurgency against the
occupying Americans? Conventional Warfare - Apples. Guerilla Warfare -
Oranges.

Contrary to the lies of such as Condi and Rummy, there was essentially
_no_ resistance in post-WWII Germany, the assassination touted by
them in Aachen happened _before_ the German surrender and cessation
of hostilities, and _no_ U.S. servicemen were killed in combat
after the surrender and occupation.
Funny that Rummy and Condi have descended to lying to defend their
little SNAFU. . . .

It's a recference to a TV cartoon called "The Family Guy", it's a riot of
a show available on DVD as well.
Quagmire is the name of one of the father's friends.
He's a horny guy who's always after the women and his trademark line is
"well alright!"
What's a "Seppo" thing?!

Turn this question to: How many dead and wounded soldiers the US
population is prepared to accept. If it's unlimited you might stay
there for over 60 years...as in Europe. Beside, that in Europe...you
were in fact welcome...Not quite the case in Iraq :-)
And know you will possibly have to face a civil war.

Quagmire is sand so wet (with blood or water) that the harder you work to
extract yourself, the deeper you go until you are sucked in over your head.
Sometimes a large group of people that know better will follow a foolish
leader until they all find themselves ankle deep in the "quagmire". Typical
the fool that led them there will deny its existence until he and all his
foolish followers drown. Lies and denial are the first signs of its
existence.
When you keep hearing about dead American soldiers, hundreds of Iraqi body
parts and destroyed ancient monuments, don't you get a sinking feeling in
your gut? That sinking feeling is the confirmation of "quagmire!"

Time for Pete Seeger to start touring again. "We were waist deep in
the Big Muddy, and the damn fool kept yelling to push on...."

Top-post! I'll do it too, then, you silly reichbot.
Merriam-Webster is probably an accepted source? Right? According to
www.m-w.com, the definition given for quagmire is not fictitious, but very
accurate. Doh!
Main Entry: quag·mire
Pronunciation: 'kwag-"mIr, 'kwäg-
Function: noun
Date: circa 1580
1 : soft miry land that shakes or yields under the foot
2 : a difficult, precarious, or entrapping position : PREDICAMENT

Its a fictitious definition the left likes to spew out of their
pathetic
un-American pie holes.
