TOM Cruise and Katie Holmes have yet to show their baby daughter off in
public, but eager fans were given an unusual preview today with what's
claimed to be a bronze cast depicting her first solid stool.
The scatological sculpture =E2=80=93 more doodoo than Dada =E2=80=93 is pur=
portedly
cast from 19-week-old Suri's first bowel movement and will be shown at
the Capla Kesting gallery in Brooklyn, New York, before being auctioned
off for charity.
The artist behind the work, Daniel Edwards, previously courted
controversy with a life-size nude sculpture of pop star Britney Spears
giving birth on a bearskin rug. That work was shown at the same gallery
in April.
"A bronzed cast of baby's first poop can be a meaningful memento for
the family," gallery director David Kesting said, adding that he hoped
the work would attract bids of up to $US25,000 ($A32,793) or $US30,000
($A39,352).
The sculpture, which sits on a wooden mounting with a glass casing, is
to be sold on eBay next month with proceeds from the sale going to
infant health charity March Of Dimes.
As of today, it had attracted a top bid of $US41 ($A53).
Mission: Impossible star Cruise and his fiancee Holmes announced Suri's
birth in April.
The entertainment press, which dubbed the pair "TomKat", has shown a
seemingly insatiable appetite for news of the pair and their
"TomKitten".
A spokesman for the couple was not immediately available today to
comment on the sculpture.=20

Heya Wally. Thanks for 'sharing' that one. I'm...speechless.
I've met quite a few very strange people throughout life, few could
compare with this idea of a momento, or art.
If this is a sample of how we are evolving....Well, perhaps as a race
we don't really have a great deal of future. Just as well really.

You knew we were headed to Hell in a Handbasket Express, when they
claimed YOko was an artiste but spare a though fopr the art world I
am trying to sell some at the moment must give them some credence when
they are buying (Hopefully) enjoyed the chat Ricky... call again,
anytime, must do Lunch if we can find a venue!!!

Sounds great, Leigh. I've got an auction to go to in the morning, I
have my eyes set on a stuffed pelican and a Sacred Ibis.
A trip up to London should be good sometime in the next month. It's
time I wandered the Capital a bit anyway.
If your time allows...a must see is the Science Museum and Natural
History museum. They are adjacent in Gloucester Road (I think)
Kensington.
You'll really need a week just to scan what is there!
I know....'Yoko' and 'Artiste' are not words that sit comfortably
together!
