Why is CNN - "Fear Mongering" People About This Season's Huricanes ??? |
Is CNN hoping for 'Higher Ratings' by "Scaring" people into 'believing'
that they need to WATCH "CNN" - to avoid being part of another
'Katrina' scenerio ???
People need to know (at least those that experienced 'Katrina' first
hand), this will probably be a "Once In A Life Time Experience." (much
like Hurricane Andrew and Hugo were). - Lightning 'seldomly' stricks
the same place "TWICE" !!!
CNN needs to let these people "Get On With Their LIVES", and focus on
much more SERIOUS Events.
Give this season's 'fictitous' Hurricane Watch (a much needed) REST.

If the media, mainstream or otherwise, didn't have a majority of its
audience in a perpetual state of anxiety about a multitude of
"worrisome" things in everyday existence, it'd lose its "stock and
trade" -- fear mongering -- and those anchoring boobs and their field
correspondents would be out of work.
Major corporations would lose one of their chief promotional venues for
their services and products -- the media broadcasts -- and that'd work
negatively into the marketplace on the wholesale and retail levels.
Then, it'd result in massive layoffs....
They must keep fear going strong and, from the looks of the last five
years since 9/11, they've been like happy chipmunks in a forest of
acorn trees.

On the one hand, it probably does increase their ratings somewhat to have
people in a perpetual state of panic. On the other hand, those people who
were caught off guard would not have been had they been paying attention
to the various news and weather outlets, so there is something in
recommending that people "stay tuned". I would recommend The Weather
Channel over CNN, myself (but for website, I prefer weatherunderground.com).

You are absolutely right 'Woods', their are much more reliable Sources
(on TV and The Internet), but CNN has become the "Reliable Voice Of The
Concerned American". (if only in their mind.)
I don't doubt that they (CNN) is a help to the people of Florida about
the Emergency of any storm, I just wish they wouldn't 'salivate' over
the potential of "Alberto" becoming an F-1 Hurricane - without taking
into consideration the FEAR that they are 'instilling' on these people
of Florida [un-necessarily] !!!
Bottom Line - people listen to CNN (sometimes religiously). Maybe its
time for them to start acting like the 'Righteous' News Channel that
they claim to be.
Just A Thought.

And Nurse "The Hype" Nancy (any reference to the porn movie is
accidental) on Headline News should be the 'First To Go' !!!
Any Judge (past OR present) should not be 'given' their own Talk Show.
Their 'opinions' belong on The Bench - and that is where they should
'STAY' !!!
Their 'Opinions' are just that - Their Opinions.
It is BAD enough when the Common Man (Person) is subjected to their
'Moods' when you have to "Face Them" when they are On The Bench, we
just DON'T need their 'Dis-Trusting' (Male Hating) Attitude on our
Local Nightly CNN 'Headline' News.
If I wanted this, I would watch Judge Judy for my "Male Hating' FIX !!!

Okay.
Just to clarify the scales for you, the F (Fujita) scale is for tornadoes,
and goes from F0 to F5. For hurricanes, they use the Saffir-Simpson
scale, and that goes from Category 1 to Category 5 (it may also include
Tropical Depression and Tropical Storm definitions - not sure on that).
