Object: Why we fight
If anyone has dc++ I suggest you search for and download the
documentary "why we fight" and then watch it of course. A British
documentary about the wars, and reasons for them, that the yanks have
involved themselves in/started since WWII. It's almost 800Mbs so I
can't email it to anyone 'cos it would take forever. If anyone has any
space I can upload it and people can download it from there say so.
This documentary completely debunks the ***** that the likes of the
douglas keep using to justify this filthy illegal invasion and
occupation of Iraq. This was probably not shown in America.

Yes indeed, compulsive viewing, well presented. I don't agree with
every point made but I still think the underlying points are worthy of

Does it debunk all the Democrats in the US Congress who voted to

of the US Senate, who said (in 2002) that Saddam's breach of the 1991
armistice rendered that armistice void, and thereby justified the
resumption of the armed conflict? I'm not saying the things I say as

That's not true, Chris. And I'm not sure you could be so confident in
what you say when you've never even *visited* America.
Let's see.. McDonald's? Nasty, wouldn't touch the stuff.
Hollywood? Sure, I like a lot of the movies (do you watch the
movies?), but I'd never want to be a *part* of the drama of Hollywood.
And culture? Actually, coincidentally, my culture is very much
Irish-Catholic. I grew up in South Boston that is mainly an Irish
Catholic neighborhood. There's lots of people that come straight from
Ireland, accent and all - and they run lots of the local bars/pubs
there.
And, there's even a mural there that says: Welcome to South Boston
in English.. and Fáilte go mBoston dheas in Irish. It also has a
Celtic cross and the coats of arms of the Provinces of Ireland.
I think you even mentioned that you have relatives that live in South
Boston, Chris.
So no, we aren't all just "McDonald's" and Hollywood. Not by a long
shot.

There's another aspect of being an ostrich these low lifes can enjoy.
They don't have to see the results of their neanderthal ideology.
I watched "Why We Fight" again this afternoon. When it came to the
section that discusses our precision shock and awe bombing in March
'03 it made me think of my own grandson when I saw the mangled bodies
of children they were taking to the hospitals. Close up looks at what
the not so accurate liberator's bombs brought.
You're not allowed to think of these things if you're a king..
There's no room for empathy. Cling to your rank ideology and keep
your distance to do what's right. Helps to be psychologically
predisposed to that distance.
Spent the day with my son yesterday. His boy is 9 months old now and
about three weeks into crawling. They're so beautiful, innocent at
that age. Taking joy in just the smallest things. Smiling all the
time, laughing at the dumbest things, crawling out in the grass and
the sunshine for the first times.
Bright blue eyes, blond hair, 4 brand new teeth exposed in that
constant massive smile.
Can't let Arab children get in the way of our broader agenda tho. We
need to resolve our imperial issues with bombs and lies.

"Why We Fight" is out on dvd now and should be easy to find in any
video store. A film by Eugene Jarecki and backed by the BBC and the
CBC it was inspired by President Eisenhower's farewell address in
1961. It's the famous "military-industrial complex" speech. He
wanted to include the word "congressional" there but didn't want to
ruffle too many feathers.
It contains interviews with Richard Perle, John McCain and a number of
military and Washington insiders. Also a rather heartbreaking story
about a retired New York City policeman who lost a son at the World
Trade Towers.
I've been sharing my personal copy with a lot of people. Illustrating
that Bush and his 'bots are weak, incompetent liars has become a hobby

Here's something else interesting.. a short excerpt from an
About.com article on this..
While "Why We Fight" does an admirable job at following the
money, Adam Curtis' three-hour documentary "The Power of
Nightmares," currently playing at Cinema Village in New York
and available for free download, is dedicated to ideas: the
rise of Islamist fundamentalism on the one hand, and Straussian
neo-conservative thought on the other, and the way they
interacted over the last half of the previous century. With
their different focus, the two films compliment each other
perfectly in describing how we ended up in the current
predicament.

It does a really good job of detailing exactly who the neocons are,

Just wanted to add one more thing here.
I don't think that the situation has gotten to the point here where
that film would be suppressed in the old fashioned way you'd see in a
totalitarian society. I think it's a little more interesting than
that.
Many people wouldn't know about that documentary here because it
wouldn't be marketed to a wide audience like a Disney movie, or a
Grand Theft Auto dvd game or a TV series like "24". The only way if
you'd know about it would be if you'd already found sources of
information outside the mainstream. If you had been inspired to seek
out alternative sources, look at other sides of issues, seek out the
truth.
A few years ago an organization wanted to sponsor an animated "public
service" comercial asking people to stop and think about our consumer
society. The animation included a large pig eating everything in
sight all over the world. The point of the ad was to ask people to
stop on a designated day and buy nothing. They couldn't find one tv
network that was willing to broadcast the commercial.
So there's an "underlying" understanding here of what is needed to
maintain the status quo. Keep us living and thinking in ways that
promotes the health and welfare of our current system. "Why We Fight"
isn't part of the agenda.
Having said that, Eugene Jarecki, the producer of "Why We Fight" has
appeared on "Charlie Rose" and "The Daily Show" to promote his work.
Also, the scenes of John McCain in this film contrasted with him
recently singing bomb, bomb, bomb.......bomb, bomb Iran are very
telling.

I'd add an enthusiastic endorsement of Chris' recommendation.

Illustrating
that Bush and his 'bots are weak, incompetent liars has become a hobby
of mine.

Sounds like it would be an interesting thing for, say, a Government class
in high school to show. My son's class is currently watching "An
Inconvenient Truth". Maybe I should buy a copy of this and donate it to
the school (after I watch it). ^_^

can't email it to anyone 'cos it would take forever. If anyone has any

This documentary completely debunks the ***** that the likes of the

occupation of Iraq. This was probably not shown in America.

Speaking of 'An Inconvient Truth' ... check out this!
http://www.crooksandliars.com/Media/Play/16468/1/TDS-Global-Warming.wmv/
Likely one of the most bizarre and funny clips on TDS I've seen
recently.
Cheers!

OMG, that's hilarious. They should be showing THAT in the schools, too! I
gotta start watching TDS on a more regular basis. (I just keep forgetting
to turn the TV on ...).

I would say that donation would be a sign of hands on, responsible
parenting.

I don't have the CD, I just downloaded it from the net. But the
picture of Eisenhower on the front tells me that it probably is the
right one. Seems Mr. Lemke has the cd so he can confirm it. Yes make
sure you watch it.

You know, if you go back and watch President Eisenhower's farewell
speech you'd realize that he was no Republican. He was a mindless
leftist advocating vigilance against the influence and activities of
American corporations and their interactions with our congress and the
military establishment.
Thank God a family with strong ties to the military industrial complex
and their financiers has come to power in America to make sure that
freedom, prosperity and security remains strong for all of us.
