Cheney directs surfers to anti-Bush site
VP's incorrect Web address redirects traffic to a George Soros page
lambasting President Bush.
http://money.cnn.com/2004/10/06/technology/cheney_soros/index.htm
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Vice President ***** Cheney told viewers Tuesday
night they could verify his claims from the vice-presidential debate at
an independent Web site -- www.factcheck.com -- but visitors to the site
found a searing anti-Bush message.
Cheney accidentally said ".com" instead of ".org" during the televised
debate.
Internet surfers who visited factcheck.com were redirected to the home
page of billionaire anti-Bush activist George Soros, with the statement
"Why we must not re-elect President Bush" at the top of the screen.
The Soros site also claims "President Bush is endangering our safety,
hurting our vital interests, and undermining American values."
The Web site Cheney had apparently meant to shuttle viewers to is:
www.factcheck.org, run by the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the
University of Pennsylvania. The site www.factcheck.com has no connection
to Soros; it was simply redirecting traffic to his site.
Factcheck.com is owned by Name Administration Inc., a Cayman Islands
company that acquires Web domain names and makes money off the traffic
by redirecting surfers to text ads, the Wall Street Journal reported
Wednesday.
A spokesman for Soros told the newspaper that he "was as surprised by it
as everyone else," adding that George Soros does not own the domain name
factcheck.com and doesn't know why traffic to that site is being
redirected to his home page.
When Cheney mentioned the wrong site during the debate, Name
Administration officials saw nearly 50,000 visitors click on the site in
the first hour, up from 200 visits a day, said the report.
Employees sent traffic to the Soros site based on their own political
views, not because of any intervention from Soros, the newspaper report
said. =A0

Rumsfeld's latest statements at the CFR, Bremer's recent statements about
low troop levels in Iraq, now this. Who's running this team? The same guy
that "competently" orchestrated and managed the invasion?
Just a reminder here. Bremer had doubts about Bush's competence before
9/11. In a speech in Wheaton Illinois on 2-6-2001 he said that the
administration was "paying no attention to terrorism". This backs up *****
Clarke's criticism.
Sounds to me like we need some focused, mature leadership in Washington
during this dangerous time.

``Bremer Faulted Bush Before Terror Attacks
WASHINGTON (AP) -- L. Paul Bremer, the U.S. administrator in Iraq, said in a
speech six months before the Sept. 11 attacks that the Bush administration
was "paying no attention" to terrorism.
"What they will do is stagger along until there's a major incident and then
suddenly say, 'Oh my God, shouldn't we be organized to deal with this,'"
Bremer said at a McCormick Tribune Foundation conference on terrorism on
February 26, 2001.
Bremer spoke at the conference shortly after he chaired the National
Commission on Terrorism, a bipartisan body formed by the Clinton
administration to examine U.S. counterterrorism policies ...
The foundation is a charitable organization founded by Robert McCormick,
former editor and publisher of The Chicago Tribune.
At the speech, delivered in Wheaton, Ill., Bremer, whose diplomatic jobs
included a stint as ambassador-at-large for counterterrorism, said a war
against terrorism would be unending.
"If you call it a war, you suggest there's a victory," he said. "I would
argue there is no final victory in the war against terrorism any more than
there is in the so-called war against crime."''

We have Jethro Clampet living in OUR WHITE HOUSE!
And he wants to renew the lease for 4 more years.....THAT SCARES ME!

You know, I've heard people say things like this before when it came to a
presidential candidate. Things always seemed to work out. But this time
around I'm with you. Concern is warranted.

I was talking to my son on the way to the woods yesterday morning, talking
about the president's obvious wriggling on the invasion, the first president
since Hoover to have a net loss on jobs over 4 years, dangerous economic
policies that will continue to whittle away the middle class. He graduated
from college with a business major, marketing minor and can't understand why
people don't see it.
There's a book out there called "Born To Buy" about how marketers brainwash
kids at an early age. Establish brand recognition at as early as 18 months
in children. We have a society that's based on acquisition, the need to
happily buy.
A lot of people won't question what's fed to them. They'll go along with
what ever is best for the system and get a happy meal to go with their
*****-licking imperialist fartitude. God bless America.

I think it's called conditioning. If you hammer home a point ( regardless of
whether it's valid or not ) over and over again it will seep into a person's
subconcious. They won't be sure where they heard or how they came to such a
conclusion, but they will believe it to be a fact. Facts don't require
questioning.
Case in point is the surveys where over 70% of US citizens believed Saddam
was responsible for 9-11. Where did this come from? Bush-Chenery repeatedly
using the words 'Sept 11th' and 'Saddam' over and over again in the same
sentence.

Yup, excellent point. Scary idea that "mind control" is that well
established, that simple.
Kids can see as many as 40,000 commercials a year. Constant non questioning
information consuming to make an unquestioning, dependant long term
consumer. It all brings your well-being, your security.
The fact of the matter is that our system is dependant on acquisition and
consumption. Comfort and things constitute the holy grail. I'm sure the
coming generations will make fine little imperialists. There'll just be a
greater gap between the elite and the worker/killer bees. It's gotta be
that way.

Absofuckinlootly too. ;-) Media conditioning is what moulds one's
point of view.
Kids can see as many as 40,000 commercials a year. Constant non questioning
information consuming to make an unquestioning, dependant long term

It's good to know that the realisation is sinking in slowly.
Unfortunately the media conditioning is sinking in faster and more
people are hooked on what they're led to believe by the media as
opposed to understanding the concept of marketting - and that
marketting does not just apply to commerce.

something needs to be done other then the 'same old same old'.
So why is this even a close race?
I pray to God that tonight John Kerry will hand The Coke Monkey his *****
again. And hopefully people *will* see the imbecile that's currenty
trying to send the planet to hell in a handbasket.
..even if (God forbid) Bush wins the election - at least I can say
I didn't help 'em. There's no way he's getting my vote. It may be
only one little vote from only one little ol' me...but I'll rest
better knowing that I had a say against him.
Dani
Every vote counts!!!!!
Never forget Florida 2000 ...
No more selections ...
No vote counted in 2000. The republican (GHWB's) US supreme court
voted him into office.

Bah, the Iraqi survey group provided proof that Saddam had to be
removed. Inspections would have never worked. kay said so last night No
matter how you weasels try to spin the truth, if the US hadn't
implemented the UN resolution, there would be WMD in the hands of
terrorists.. The article goes further BTW showing there could still be
attempt by AlQaeda to get their hand on them,. as the latest beheading
to get Dr. Germ showed BTW.

BROWN: Let me ask you to just venture a little bit into conjecture, but
it's in your area of expertise. Do you believe, sir, that if the
inspectors had been given more time before the run up to the war, they
or during the run up to the war, they could have determined, considering
the conditions they were working under which weren't optimal, I suppose,
whether there were weapons or not?
KAY: Aaron, I think under the conditions that Saddam imposed, the
inspections would have not had a definitive outcome. Remember, Hans Blix
in December of -- right before the war reported Iraq had not made a
clear determination to disarm. Iraq still was standing in the way of
inspections right up to the time of the war. Inspections could have
continued for another six months. I'm afraid we would still lack a
definitive conclusion as to what the status of Saddam's weapons program
was. We certainly wouldn't understand it as we do today.
As you see, the inspections would have had no effect. FURTHERMORE:
BROWN: And the point of that to me just seems to be that while hindsight
is terrific and it is, we all enjoy it, even the inspectors themselves
or the inspection process itself might not have led us to this
conclusion prior to the war. There were, I know in your mind, there were
concerns about the scientists and what the scientists might do, given
the conditions in Iraq that existed?
KAY: Absolutely. I said in January when I testified, I thought Iraq in
some ways was far more dangerous than the intelligence community had
assessed. That is, the corruption, the decay of the society itself was
leading scientists to be willing to do almost anything to support their
family. In a world where you've got a willing seller, you usually find a
willing buyer, in this case it would have been terrorism and our
intelligence was not good enough to pick up an individual scientist
selling to a terrorist network. Look at AQ Khan. For 18 years we missed
him selling to Iran and North Korea. It was only when he picked a very
bad customer, Libya, that we managed to roll that network up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, I don't see how kerry's weasels can get away with their leis and
convince so many people. Are there so many ignorant Americans?

Worded otherwise? How many believe the Dems lies that Bush lied when
