On Sunday, the Associated Press reported that six Episcopal priests in
Connecticut may be removed as rectors of their parishes by their bishop
because they have actively opposed the election of the first openly
"gay" bishop, Vickie Gene Robinson of New Hampshire.
According to AP:
Bishop Andrew D. Smith said in letters sent to the priests that they had
"abandoned the communion of the church," which would mean the priests
would no longer lead their parishes. The priests could later be defrocked.
Apparently, the six churches had the audacity to try to "break away from
Smith's authority and be supervised by another bishop." One of the
priests being threatened, the Rev. Christopher Leighton, has referred to
the threat as "spiritual gag orders." He was further quoted as saying:
The real story is our freedom to speak and our freedom to practice our
faith is what is being inhibited ...
Exactly.
From a strictly humanistic point of view, the homosexual community
preaches tolerance to compel people to accept their deviant lifestyle,
but they certainly don't practice tolerance when people exercise their
choice to disagree. These priests are being threatened with the loss of
their jobs because they are refusing to kowtow to a conspiracy to
terminate their constitutional First Amendment rights.
But that's not the only problem with this ugly picture. Both the Old
Testament and New Testament of the Bible clearly identify homosexuality
as sin and as an abomination before God (for example, Leviticus 18:22,
Deuteronomy 22:5, Romans 1:18-32). And Scripture tells us there are
consequences for continuing to actively sin against God:
"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of
God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor
adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the
covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the
kingdom of God."
– 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, NASV
In taking a stand against sin – as all Christians are admonished to do
in Scripture – it is not these priests who are in error, but their
bishop, who has instead taken a stand against God in support of sin. It
is the bishops who approved a homosexual bishop who have "abandoned the
communion" – and they knew it when they did so. "He who justifies the
wicked and he who condemns the righteous, Both of them alike are an
abomination to the Lord" (Proverbs 17:15, NASV).
Frankly, I have never understood why homosexuals continue to justify
putting their private body parts in places where they were never
intended to be placed – never mind why the priests in black robes who
occupy America's courts would create special rights for such repulsive
activity. The claim that homosexuals were born the way they are – that
they have no choice – is flat-out wrong. As I have noted before:
.... there is no evidence of a genetic basis for homosexual behavior.
Nonetheless, in a society of victimology and dysfunctionality – where it
is politically correct to be helpless and hopeless ... the homosexual
lobby has corruptly seized this mindset as their own.
But, the cry of "we cannot help what we are" implicitly acknowledges
that even homosexuals themselves understand their behavior is immoral
and that they are not willing to take responsibility for what they do.
After all, why do you need to blame genetics for who you are if there is
nothing wrong with your behavior?
I've also heard "gays" assert that homosexuality should be considered
"normal" because it occurs in various animal populations. This mindless
rationalization falls flat on two counts. First, some animals also eat
their young – does this mean humans should emulate that behavior, too?
Second, humans are gifted with minds that can reason, rather than acting
like a beast blindly driven by hormones to copulate with whatever
opportunity presents itself, as anyone who owns a male dog can likely
attest.
This latest attempt by homosexuals to infect the church with their
virulent sickness, however, is no longer just about unfounded opinions.
It is war against God. It is an insistence that sin be called good. It
is no different than the intimidation tactics of the Nazi brown-shirts
and the vicious attempts to silence dissent practiced by every tyrant,
thug and bully throughout history.
Declaring war on God is foolish and suicidal. The church is called to be
light and salt to a dark, decaying world – not to embrace darkness and
decay, and not to cherry-pick which parts of Scripture they will or
won't follow. People of faith who would honor God must stand against
this evil.
"... those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me will be
lightly esteemed."

The bad news is this is but one battle in a long series of battles in an
assault on God, His people and His ways. The good news is God rules and
will right all wrongs at the appointed time. Stand firm.

Um .... nobody is forcing them to refrain from practicing their faith,
but the religious order to which they belong can most certainly tell its
priests what they can and cannot do lest they be defrocked. Obviously,
these priests do not wish to follow what their religious organization
tells them to do - so they are free to leave. (Also obvious is that the
writer doesn't know the difference between "faith" and "religion").
I'm sure that there wouldn't be any outcry from the Rightwing Christian
Fundies if the Southern Baptists kicked out ministers who announced they
were gay and performed gay marriages, because they "believed" that was
the right thing to do.

So your saying an anti-gay campain by these priest reported by AP my have Rect 'um.
I say RECTUM, no way, probably got em in good with the other Episcopalians!
