Object: Women are incapable of rational thought during a shopping spree.
Women are crazy shoppers
By Stephen Hull, Metro
7 November 2003
Men have long suspected it, but scientists have proved that women are incapable
of rational thought during a shopping spree.
Electrical activity in the area of the brain which deals with rational thought
is reduced to nil during a trip to the shops, researchers found.
And zones which govern emotions go into overdrive whenever a woman indulges in
a little retail therapy.
The revelation came on the day chart star BeyoncÈ Knowles spent £70,000 at
Harvey Nichols' department store in Edinburgh.
Dr Michael Deppe, who led the study, said it could explain why women are often
at a loss to say how they came to be looking in a shop window one minute and
making a purchase the next.
Dr Deppe, an anthropologist from the University of Kassel, in Germany, said:
'Shopping frenzy is rooted in our ancestors' hunter-gatherer instincts.
Six million years ago, mankind did not need sensible thinking to forage for
their food.
'It was an advantage if they could react spontaneously. Rational thoughts just
got in the way.'
He added that there is nothing shoppers can do to stop 'shutting down'.

Well at least they are capable of it when not on a shopping spree. You're
incapable of rational thought whether shopping or not!!

This part is right. It is from the gatherer instinct and perhaps
hoarding instinct. But it does not prove irrationality or a disorder,
which must be proven by comparison to real disorders. Women probably
enjoy shopping more than men.
Legit researchers must prove that shopping creates the same brain
changes (using functional MRI, for instance) as obsessive compulsive
disorders (OCD).
...............

Six million years ago, mankind did not need sensible thinking to forage for
their food.

'It was an advantage if they could react spontaneously. Rational thoughts just
got in the way.'

He added that there is nothing shoppers can do to stop 'shutting down'.

Yes, but talking to yourself is not healthy. Neither is sex with
yourself. Great sex is only possible with a partner. Arnold knows
this too. Sex with yourself can lead to worms, but it is not magical.
Some people's magical room is called "Good Will." They go there and
get things other people don't need. Maybe sUSAn should go there.

Tony

Sick:
1/. Encouraging a young girl to suck her brother's ***** and then describe it
on a newsgroup!
2/. Getting ones jollies looking up the skirt of a tv journalist while she's
on the telly...LOL...and then posting about it to a newsgroup!
3/. "Happily" married and advertising on kinky newsgroups, (without the
other parts knowledge), for women to put on pantyhose and suck on an 8
incher!
....and you call the guy who would rather pull himself off than go with the
Greek woman sick!!!

Stupid...on that occasion yes...don't forget though, I did mention that he
was a seppo from Chicago didn't I?.
I didn't see Tony's reply to my post until now and he says that he "sure
does" think that my friend is sick. I want to know why.
So Tony boy:
Is my friend sick 'cos he preferred to have a barclays bank than go with the
gorgeous Greek woman? <<==I would say he was silly but not sick for that!!!
Is he sick 'cos he did such things, (pulling his plum), and was only
bringing blindness and the wrath of God upon himself?
Is it sicker to have a barclays than to prowl the kinky newsgroups in the
manner that you did a few years ago?

Sounds like my backyard!
The only difference is we have gators instead of crocs and loads of
leaping lizards.

I love those little leaping lizards that you have in Florida - they are the
best! Just behind efts, that is .... :-)
(Efts are a little orange adolescent stage of the local newt breed - very
cute, moreso than a grecko!)

Yes, they are so cute! You can wear them as live lizard earrings. Well,
the kids and teenagers do this. If you put their mouth up to your
earlobe they will clamp down on it (no teeth), and will hang on until
you pull them off!
They look like mini brontosauruses and during the mating season they
have a bright orange membrane under the chin that blows up huge like a
balloon.
They always hitchhike on top of your vehicle and get loose in the house.
Jump out at you and scare the daylights out of you when you take the lid
off the trashcan outside. They always catch me off guard.

I think I have a plastic one! But I've never seen that one here.
There is some type of a nocturnal gecko here. They look albino like.
They like to hang out by our porch lights at night because it brings the
bugs right to them.
Another type that I don't really care for is the skink. They have teeth!
And they look a snake with two front feet and slither around! ewwww!

Weird! I like snakes, but I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be picking one up
that has teeth. Do they go into "protection" mode when you pick them up?
(empty their intestines all over themselves and stink like rotted mice).

Yep! I have a plastic one.....it hangs on a planter.
It *is* a pretty variety, at that.

Oh....we don't pick up the skinks, not to mention they are as fast as a
streak of lightning.

And you *still* pick them up? That would protect them from me for sure!
I can't vouch for the skink ;), but the anoles (green) lizard, the ones
most common here that they make the earrings out of do not.
The cats LOVE them! I'm forever saving their lives from my cats. I can't
stand to see them torture them.....and boy do they!
You know how cats like to play with their food.

They are excellent pest control for the lawn and I'm not exaggerating
when I say we must have hundreds of them in our yard.
Here's some pictures. A couple of these I have never come across, like
the 'Jesus Christ Lizard' - I had never even heard of that one.
I did learn in this link below that the thing we have been calling a
glass snake isn't a snake at all......but a legless lizard.

What's that snake you've got in Florida that's dark (like a garter snake with no
lines) and keels over and plays dead if you get too close to it? My FIL had one
in his back yard, and didn't know if it was poisonous or not, so I didn't pick
it up. I thought it had fainted, but I think it was just playing possum.
