Weapons row heats up in US
Congressional members in the United States are arguing over how they
should investigate the possible misuse of intelligence in the lead up
to the war in Iraq.
One congressional inquiry has already begun into the claims that
weapons intelligence was exaggerated.
But senior Democrat Carl Levin wants the Armed Services Committee of
which he is a member to also investigate.
He has lashed out at the committee's chairman Republican John Warner.
"We've got to have a probing inquiry on a number of committees," he
said.
Senator Warner says there is no need for another inquiry.
"In no way is the United States Senate at this point in time not
living up to its responsibilities to carefully and fairly look at this
question," Senator Warner said.
The weapons debate is becoming more heated in the United States as
time passes with no evidence of weapons being found.
