SEVEN U.S. SOLDIERS DIE IN BAGHDAD FIGHTING

Seven US soldiers have been killed in fierce clashes with Shiites in
Baghdad's impoverished slum area of Sadr City.
US military officials in Baghdad say Shiite militiamen tried to take
over police stations and government buildings using small arms and
grenade launchers.
"Coalition forces and Iraqi security forces prevented this and
re-established security in Baghdad at the cost of seven US soldiers
killed and more than two dozen wounded," a military statement said.
At least one Iraqi was reported killed.
Shiite supporters of radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr have clashed with
troops in several Iraqi cities.
In the worst clashes at Kufa near Najaf, 20 Iraqis, one American and
one El Salvadoran soldier were killed.
Fighting began there after protesting militiamen marched on a
Spanish-run military base to denounce the arrest of an aide to Sadr
and the closure by US officials of a militant Baghdad newspaper.
Oppressed under former president Saddam Hussein, Iraq's Shiites have
grown increasingly vocal in the year since US-led forces ousted
Saddam.
They want their clear majority of the population to be reflected in a
future Iraqi government.

I fancy that I am not alone in realising that your keyboard is
defective.
Perhaps you can't see? If that's so, I ought to let you know that it
has an odd habit of leaping from upper to lower case indiscriminatly.
They aren't very expensive. Perhaps we could club together to help?
