Civil war they say?

Seems more like civil solidarity against Americans.

Though history shows that crusades has the Islamic armies unite agains the
infidel, then fight civil wars to see who would rule.

So I guess they are right that civil war will come, but did they not forsee
it would be over their dead bodies?

Iraq on verge of civil war: Blix

Iraq is on the verge of civil war, according to former chief UN
weapons inspector Hans Blix.

"The country is on the verge of civil war today," Dr Blix told Le
Parisian.

"The majority of Iraqis are certainly happy to be rid of Saddam
Hussein, but they are all against the American occupation, which is
resented as a humiliation."

He says the United States has not stationed enough troops in the
country to maintain order and prevent attacks, so "Iraq has become a
machine producing terrorism".

"George W Bush, who has presented this war as part of the 'war on
terror', has gotten the opposite result," the former Swedish foreign
minister and long-time diplomat said in comments translated from
French.

Dr Blix says Mr Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair "took us
for a ride" about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

But he refused to be drawn on whether they lied or were misled by
their intelligence services.

"I think they may have been sincerely convinced there were weapons of
mass destruction in Iraq, like some were convinced of the existence of
witches in the 18th century," he said.

But he noted that the weapons of mass destruction argument was the
only way for Bush administration hawks like Vice President ***** Cheney
and Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to present Iraq as a real threat
and "sell" the President on launching the war.

He applauded Secretary of State Colin Powell for having the honesty to
recognise last week that the evidence on Iraq's weapons programs he
presented to the UN Security Council in February 2003 was wrong.

"He has made amends ... that is not the case with Cheney and
Rumsfeld," Dr Blix said.

Dr Blix repeated that at the start of the war on March 20 he could not
have declared that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction, and
that it would have taken until the end of May to certify that Saddam
had really destroyed all of his stockpiles of weapons.

Dr Blix said he had no regrets on seeing the fall of Saddam, who
considered the UN weapons inspectors "insects".

"The only positive point in this war is having gotten rid of a
dictatorial regime which was covered in blood," he said.

"But the cost has been very high with all the lives lost, Americans
and Iraqis, the destruction of the country and the emergence of
terrorism in Iraq."
