Object: WOW, Sunday morning wakeup call!
Just sitting around not doing much,
when the house started jumping up and down!
Turned out to be a 5.6 quake about 60 miles NNE
of where I live.
No damage reported so far, even near the epicenter.
But there are reported of multiple rock slides on
the 'country road' running thru the mountains near
there (State Route 74, south of Palm Desert).

Just a precurser of the Big One that is coming within the next month
or so.

Glad you're okay, but I'd check my foundation and stuff. We had one up
in Quebec a few years ago that damaged foundations and roads over 100
miles away. Some of the damages to houses weren't discovered for a while.
If you don't have EQ insurance, you should get it.
(BTW - take it you're not an Elvis fan, since you're not "All Shook Up"?)

Glad yer all still in one peace, Bud.
Shortly after the Northridge Quake in LA I called a couple of friends out
there to see how they were doing. I got their answering machine. "Hey,
guys, just wanted to call and see what was shakin' out there." The return
message I got was not entirely pleasant. They were not amused. :-) In
their heart of hearts they still love me tho.

Next you'll tell me I need flood insurance.

Heh. Well, I do keep hearing on the news about people in California not
having eq insurance, so ...

Next you'll tell me I need flood insurance.

Might not be such a bad idea. When you get rain out there, it tends to
come washing down, instead of getting soaked up like it does in the East.

I'm in a house on a hill, and hard granite.
No flood threat, and it would take a HUGE
quake to damage this place.
In that kind of thing, the insurance companies
would probably find SOME way to not pay off..

What's rain? Is that the wet stuff that falls out of the sky? Oh yeah,
I remember now, it's been so long.....

Looks like I picked the right place out of the two that I was
contemplating on moving to (California and Florida).
Hey, speaking of which - did Arlene affect you at all, Susan? Not me.
But being a "newbie" here in Florida - I was a little on edge while it
was going on, wondering if it was going to turn into something bigger
or not. Needless to say I was very happy that it passed.
