With the current problems in Gaza, Iran continuing to enrich uranium,
and North Korea launching their test missles, I believe that either WW3
will be starting this August, or at least a new major war... something
that the Americans won't win quite as quickly as in Afganistan or Iraq
(if those are "wins" ("you have been conquered, now stop shooting at
us")).

Petrol (Gasoline) prices are already nudging $1.50 per liter in some

The man-made catastrophes would typically be some type of terrorist
activity. Terrorists started the Afganistan war. So, I expect you are
quite correct with that. The Americans would need a bit more
provocation than uranium enrichment or testing missles in order to
start another major offensive.
If a big natural disaster hit the US, then I could see how opposing
countries could see that as an opportunity to take further action, when
the Americans are already weakened.
But as you said, remains to be seen.

Well as I am interpreting the show, Iran could probably be dragged into the
Iraqi war with help from the shiites. USA don't have the military force in
the middleeast to control Iran and handle Iraq same time. Iran is larger
than Iraq and is not suffering in military strenght as Iraq did after the
1991 war and sanctions afterwards.
Noone know the date that would or could happen.

It can also be argued that WW1 was a resource war (Germany, with the
newly built Orient Express vs Britain, for Iranian oil). WW3 is going
to be a resource war, likely under the disguise of an anti-terrorist
war. So on that basis, it could be argued that WW3 started at the
beginning of WW1.
The historical start of WW3 will either be stated as being at some
point in the future (I've already stated my opinion as to when), or
Sept. 11, 2001. I don't really think it will be considered a world war
until China and/or Russia get heavily involved in the action.
