OMG - Expedia charged someone's credit card for nearly $800 when they knew
there was no room available! (didn't get their money back, either -
instead got a "voucher" for about half the charge). Un.real!

Oh noooo....that is ugly. I don't have credit cards anymore. I like to
play with fire -- I have a debit card~! LOL! That way, they can clean my
bank account out. Of course, there is the standard liability insurance.
Plastic cards will be the ruin of us yet.

They're great if you pay them off every month and super if you get one that
gives you cash back. We have one credit card that we use for everything
except online purchases, and another one that we use only for online
purchases. Our normal purchases (groceries & everything) are put on a card
that gives us "cash back" at 1% (and sometimes we get discounts for
certain types of purchases - got a new stove and refrigerator for 35%
off when we combined a 10% CC discount with an instore 25% off sale). We're
getting interest on the money in our bank account while waiting for the CC
bills to come in, and getting an extra 1% from the CC company on
everything we buy. Not a bad deal, IMHO, but you have to pay
very.close.attention to the constantly changing due dates and be sure to
pay it all off every month.
